bj1958....I would suggest that you pour over all prior posts regarding BHC...if you are looking for meaningful employment outside the gaming industry, you are probably looking in the wrong town. Life may be an adventure, but IMO, a blind move to BHC would be a misadventure.....but hey, go see for yourself....just don't move there until you have investigated to see whether it will work for you.

Yes Bullhead City is Growing at a slow pace the last population count was in Feb. 2016 in which city manager Toby Cotter stated that current population stands at 40,088. Ste. Route 95 has been a hassle and a joint project between ADOT and Mohave county to improve the 14 mile segment of Vanderslice road that will reduce congestion on 95 by 30 per cent according to city estimates is under construction. the improvement will be a wide 2 lane road with a center lane turnout between Courtwright and Boundary Cone. From Boundary Cone to the Bullhead Parkway will be 4 lane divided road. The job market is improving in Bullhead and there are projects in the works to attract industry. Currently Bullhead City is a front runner for Dot Foods to build a 43 million dollar distribution center here. With the international airport runway being extended from 7,500 to 8,500 feet will be a big plus to attract more industry here as this will allow for larger aircraft like the 757 and A320 to safely take off and land. Currently 737 is the largest aircraft taking off and landing on a daily basis.

That is not really an expansion it's 500 RSA on both sides the FAA mandates. 75s and A320s can operate safely now. It's just no carrier will come because there isn't enough movements to sustain a staff here full time. I believe Southwest wants at least 8 movements to even consider coming and IFP can't do that year round. The summer is dead since this is a snowbird town and only Sun Country has the lucrative casino contract.

Unfortunately BHC will not ever really grow much. Laughlin has maxed out the casinos and the rest is retail or fast food jobs. It is what it is.

Actually BHC is slated to build out around 80,000 - someday. Maybe if enough baby boomers move here.

If people circumvent the Hwy it will seriously impact businesses. The traffic now is nothing like it was in the early 90's during the peak tourism, but it is slowly coming back.

Will hurt business on the 95? Looking at the still crazy about of empty store fronts in 2016, things have got worse IMHO. Word was 10 or 15 years ago there were many more open businesses here in town from what the old timers have told me.

I left in 2001, and returned in 2013 (briefly), and also noticed much less economic activity than before; clearly a contracted economy. When was the last time you saw a construction crane, building a multi-story project?

The recession of 07-08 hit the Laughlin/Bullhead area very hard. I moved here in 2002 and the place was booming. They built the Sams, Home Depot area and many others. The airport was growing. Since 08' it hasn't recovered since the economy hasn't. Until we get a real president, jobs and some confidence nobody will invest in the area and we will continue to see the stagnation.
