I live in East Mesa and the storms this year were amazing. Some formed right over us sending a peaceful summer night into choas. Heck I even captured a lightning bolt strike across the street from where I was WHILE I WAS OUTSIDE EXPOSED on video. The lightning bolt came from a severe storm cell 4-5 miles away which made the thunder sound much longer afterwards. But if I posted the video on here you can see a very very (pencil thin) lightning bolt strike the shed across the street.

I think we got lucky up here! It seems like we've had plenty of rain...and humidity...but it hasn't been all that bad. Not bad enough to make me cuss anyway! Has it even broke 100 degrees up here lately? I have actually been enjoying this summer, probably more than any I can think of in recent history. I've been having a mosquito problem lately though and I have NO idea where they are coming from. No standing water around here. The humidity maybe? AND my garden is still doing great!

The spotty Monsoon storms have been a trend since the mass developments went it. "The Valley" is now a huge heat pocket, it doesn't let the storms get past the mountains it appears. It seems to stay really warm throughout the night in the city as well, wheres out in the desert, it cool off dramatically.

It's cyclical. Now that El Nino is gone, expect a "normal" monsoon next year and a "heavy" monsoon when La Nina comes around....

Looks like monsoon may make a curtain call. The NWS is getting pretty serious about rain chances tonite and has put us under a flash flood watch - even the SW areas! Got my fingers crossed.

We got a pretty good amount of rain last night. Short, but intense.
