This thread made me laugh because a good friend of mine in a previous city I lived was notorious for being concerned about this. I used to enjoy ordering things I knew he wanted but wouldn't order. Eventually he started just ordering after me so that he could say "I'll have the same" rather than actually say the name of the drink. But he didn't seem to care if people saw him drinking it.

I remember ths inverse in England…..it was considered very unfemine when I was there (it may have changed) for a woman to drink a pint of beer (a half pint was OK) or neat liquor.

I have a friend that loves cosmos. He is gay but doesn't care what people think.

Uh-oh ... when I was on a research trip to England/Wales a couple of years ago, I usually ate dinner at a local pub ... with a pint to drink. Oops!

Funny threa! Short answer- anything without an umbrella or salad on top!

I like rocks margaritas but they sometimes arrive in elaborate stemmed glasses, often huge, sometimee shaped like cactus and such. I order my next one in a mug or small pitcher

My husband drinks vodka and cranberry, whiskey and sour, Sex on the Beach, or a Rum Runner. i haven't noticed any masculinity issues for him, BUT I know what you mean. I grew up with that thought too, men--beer, whiskey, scotch, red wine. Women--white wine. don't know where i got that from...

Nothing with an umbrella in it like bigguns said. Nothing with a cute name, Like Birthday cake or grasshopper.

A bottled beer or especially a scotch screams manly man if you are looking for that image. Top it off with a cigarette and Chuck Norris shakes your hand in front of everyone. Guaranteed.

So long as it isn't an obvious "foo-foo" drink - anything goes.

Leave the bright colored, many ingredients stuff to the ladies.

I don't see people drinking flaming cocktails though, Like a Vietnamese rainbow. Then color is fine.
