This is my first post in this sub-forum. As I write, I am enjoying a mellow refreshing cocktail handed down from my deceased stepfather. He never stated the name of the drink. However, the "Google Gods" call it a "Hanky Panky." It consists of Fernet - a minty, bitter, herbaceous, Italian 30% liqueur (Branca Menta) - mixed with a 16% sweet Vermouth (Punt E Mes). The old guy taught us to add a splash of Club Soda and ice.

I don't know much about mixed drinks. But this is one of the most refreshing cocktails I've enjoyed.

Cheers!

Tonight I am partaking of a wee dram (sorry I find it so funny to call it that) of Jura 21 with my Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier.

It's a decent, inexpensive rye.
Was finally able to finish off this hot mess. Went out and got a fifth of Tincup Rye. I hate that they brand it as "Mountain Whiskey" when it's distilled in flattastic Indiana, but it's a good rye. Sips a lot better than the Balcones crap.

Eyrie Vineyards 2009 Pinot Noir

This wine has always been one of my favorites since I started drinking Pinot over twenty years ago. This is a solid Pinot, love the hints of cherry along with the earthy flavors. 2009 is a good year for this wine.
