We have lived here six months and have lived in many diverse areas, this town/city is fantastic! Large enough to have everything you need and small enough to enjoy it. We are being transferred in January (can you believe it?) and this is the first time I will so miss a place. My whole family loves it here and the people, I would love to just pack them up and take them with me! Don't complain, you have a perfect little jewel here, just enjoy!

Zimindar1 - can I ask you where you settled in ABQ - north or south - we are trying to find our little jewel and think that Corrales and Placitas look interesting? thanks

I think Albuquerque looks a lot like an updated version of ancient Babylon with more strip malls and massage institutes. To look more like a real city it would have to have a camel auction yard and some charnel houses. Also a great wall surrounding the whole thing manned by soldiers armed with crossbows would be a nice touch.

Oh, and refuse piles. Definitely more refuse piles.

What makes you say that? I just like history. And circling vultures.

Default What's the latest news on the possible Chant Tower and The Residences at Packard Place?

I've heard rumors, saying, that two high-rise towers (The Chant Tower and The Residences at Packard Place) are planned to be built in ABQ, within the upcoming years.

Does anyone have any updates on the either of these towers?

Only the boarded-up remnants of past Route 66 hotels are left in the 'towers' wake. Nothing happening right now.

Albuquerque needs a professional sports team and the stadium that goes with it. Once people hear about an ABQ sports team, ABQ will instantly have the impression of a bigger "real" place.

i didn't read the entire thread. but i think it would help to have more of a cultural center. if anyone has ever been to golden gate park, something like that would be amazing. for those who haven't been, it's much more than a park. it has an art museum, natural science museum, an aquarium, a chinese garden, botanical gardens, an outdoor concert venue and a few other things i'm sure i'm forgetting all in walking distance across a beautiful park. albuquerque could build something similar on a smaller scale.
