I am planning a move to Albuquerque in March. I'm currently searching for an apartment with plenty of amenities. Pool, spa, fitness center and clubhouse. I am 56 years old and a single female. Of course, safety is an issue for me as I am an ER Nurse and often work nights. I would perfer a community that is more "adult" oriented. Certainly not a retirement setting, but a place without children's playgrounds.

If you are familar with the area, please advise. I have heard the NE is the most coveted area as well as Rio Ranchos.

Check out Broadstone High Resort in Rio Rancho. It is the closest rental community to ALb and the amenities without actually being in Alb., yet is not way out in Rio Rancho away from everything. Gated, nice pool and jacuzzi that's open year round and heated, nice fitness room (better than most rental places), and you don't see many little kids. It is rather transient though, meaning that it does not seem to be a place where you make friends for life, people are staying temporarily while they build, save for a house, etc. Rents vary depending upon whether you want a garage, or a fireplace, or have a dog, etc. But it is roughly $800 to $1050 (2 bedroom). Hope this helps.

There was a time when it didn't matter where you lived in Albuquerque
versus where you worked, but that time is past.

Do you know where you are going to work? If so, where?

If not, you don't need to know about apartments (yet). If you move
in to a nice place in Rio Rancho and find work at Lovelace at Gibson
and San Mateo that won't do. At least it wouldn't for me.

Mortimer makes an ecellent point. If nothing else, try to live on the same side of the river as you work on. Commutting in the morning can be a real bit(h.

Thanks for the responses. I checked out Broadstone...they seem to have the amenities I am interested in. They even provide a membership to a country club. What a plus, as I am a golfer!
