From what I understand, the Balloon Festival park has the greatest show but I'd never venture there. The traffic jam is so bad, that for miles away, main streets are blocked off in order to keep traffic moving (which it doesn't). Go if you must.
Personally, I'd take a snack with me to the Sandia Crest and just sit up there and watch the fireworks for a 20 mile stretch in either direction.
You sure you wouldn't rather watch San Antonio try to burn down the city? They do a great job of it. Firetrucks everywhere you go.
balloon fiesta park is the place to be, I went once and it was too crowded for me, so now I go watch the fireworks in Rio Rancho, there are plenty of places to park there, I usually park by the high school, plus you can watch ABQ's fireworks display off in the distance.
Is it worth paying to get into the park to see the fireworks in person, or does someone have a super-secret spot to park and watch them that's better than fighting traffic?
Feel free to Direct Message, my 3 year-old and I will thank you, but we'll keep the location to ourselves...
Not quite sure what you mean by "the park". There will probably be fireworks displays at Loma Colorado Park (Rio Rancho), Isotopes Park, Balloon Fiesta Park, some park on Kirtland..
If not fighting traffic's what you're up for, maybe some place up on the mountain where you can see more than one at once.
