Like I said, I've read about this recently. I'll try to find it again.

Well, all this advice was great, and it's left me craving warm beaches and fresh fruit, but Hawaii doesn't seem to be in the cards for this spring--decided that spending some time with my son in Portland has to take precedence. Maybe in the fall; is that a good time to go?

Fall is good also. "The Rainy Season" is end of November to middle of April. Again - not much rain this year even on the rainy side compared to last year. If you go to Kona or the dry side of an island.. no worries period. That is the "norm" however these days the norm seems to be changing.

On the Big island April for Merrie Monarch Festival is busy time. Bookings for rentals cars, flights go up in price up during Spring break, after Dec 10 to Jan 4, and April on Big Island. It is the Hawaiian Superbowel. Hula competitions. Other times cheaper. Summer the cheapest. I have been coming back November or early Dec. My friends from Alaska usually show up around the middle of Oct. Great weather then.

Here is not the best pics but beaches on Big Island.. and other islands DM if and when you go and I will point you in best ones to not miss! http://www.hawaiiweb.com/Hawaii/html...stal_cove.html

Have fun in Portland!
