There is a number of direct barge/shipping services that comes to Anchorage directly from Seattle a couple times a week. There is also some smaller lines that come up the inside passage to all the smaller towns to pick and deliver freight.

A few go to Seward and are transported to the Rail system then go to Anchorage, or Whitter and run the rail from there too.

There is some shipping companies that do only "In State" shipping. You can also contact some of the fishing fleet that spend the summers/winters in Ballard, WA and can haul freight when they are on the way back to Dutch Harbor, Kodiak or other points and/or can drop off stuff elsewhere on their way.

Quite a few boats are going to the shipyard in Bellingham now, too. The only problem with fishing boats carrying stuff is that there's no way to insure it - if something happens, whoever owns the stuff is just as SOL as whoever is on the boat. Maybe more so, because a wrong wave can clean off the deck and still leave the boat in good shape.
