Hey Texas...do yourself a favor and DON'T do the cruise ship thing... You do not see REAL Alaska on those things. You know when you go to Yellowstone and see all the suckers in bermuda shorts and sun glasses, lugging along some big sippy drink, pulling over their SUV's to take pics of a deer or bear and then they head off on the main road to the next pullout??? That is the cruise ship experience. You don't see anything other than the tourist traps: walk up to some sensationalized piece of whatever, point-click, take a pic, and that's your memory? And if you book excursions through the cruise ships, they cost more than you'd pay on your own and you're at the mercy of their timeline instead of having the freedom to make it up as you go along. What happens if you run into a really neat place and want the time to explore it? Two weeks isn't enough...heck people live in AK and travel and years arent enough... make the most of your time, but YOU make the most of it.....don't let the cruise morons do it for you.
