Hi...I am suffering from a serious case of cabin fever...usually, if I get the blues due to weather here, I just get out to a remote cabin or something, but this winter the weather has been so horrible here that I haven't even been able to do that!
I am getting a small tax return and was wondering if you AK pros knew any CHEAP warm place to go...cheap lodging, cheap plane tickets (ha...tall order I bet). But people in AK seem to be pretty resourceful when it comes to this; we all need to get off the rock at some point (speaking as an island dweller).

I would be traveling solo and light. I've never been uneasy about traveling alone; drove all the way from MN up to AK alone and many other trips, too.
Ideas anyone? Thanks!

Getting down to Mexico usually isn't too expensive. You might try looking around on cheaptickets.com

I see deals for flights to Hawaii pretty often. It's like 80's there... sounding pretty good to me.

Thanks for the ideas folks...yeah, amh is $$$...but I've never been north of prince of wales, so this summer I'm taking a trip on the new ferry route to Petersburg...looks like a beautiful little town. Got to explore more of AK now that I have a permanent job and some paid vacation time!

Default looking for warm weather, or?

So, you looking for warm weather, or just a lack of snow?

Here in NM its been in the '80s for a couple of weeks now, I hear Phoenix AZ is already hitting the hundred mark. TOO dang hot, gotta get back up north.

Snow I like to play in; but sunshine and warmth I miss...we had an unusually wet and dark summer last year, too, so it's really getting OLD!! 100 degrees...no way dude...I fear I am beyond ever surviving in that again. Can u believe I used to do forest fire-fighting in 100-110 degrees?? Seems like a long time ago.
