Is it possible for the mods to see who is repping someone if they do not include their name on the rep.

I just got one (harrassing). I figured they were trying to elude detection of who they were by sending it that way instead of by dm.

Send a dm to one of the moderators, and we'll look into it.

Yes, it is possible. Contact the moderator that monitors the area in which you received that rep immediately! They can see who it was and take action from there.

Yes, effie, worse things are possible ~

I was not aware these little missives could be tracked. That's good information to know.

I just got a mean harassing rep as well. Can someone help me?

I'm not upset, but I don't want to enable the behavior either.

Thanks,

W.

Be civil, no personal attacks, flaming, or insults. We may attack ideas (politely) but we do not attack the speaker of the idea. Be careful with your words, there is a point where being direct crosses a line into blunt, in-your-face hostility. Please, report bad posts instead of engaging in flame wars on the boards. Insulting another member or a moderator will not be tolerated anywhere on this website. This includes Direct Messages and Reputation Comments.
The member who issued the rep just received a reminder from me of the section of the TOS above. Also, the comment has been deleted from your list of reps. You get to keep the points.

I'm not downplaying the complaints of those who've received nasty messages with reps. But, perhaps admins should re-arrange the icons; it's easy for a poster to think s/he's reporting a post, complete with the reasons the post is against the TOS (so clearly a nasty message), but have clicked on the icon that's right next to it, that gives rep points.

The "repper" may actually be trying to "report" the post, not be using the rep function to deliver a nasty message. Sometimes, of course, that *is* what they're trying to do.

that is a good point. i often find myself hitting the wrong button, especially the rep instead of report. what happens when you press the 2 buttons is different enough that i've never sent one when i meant to send another (i don't think!), but i did get to the point of typing stuff into the wrong form a couple of times before i realized! it would definitely be good if the 2 links were more distinct and farther apart.
