I agree that rep points should stay, it helps when looking at the advice given by individuals. I like the system, the neg is gone and I'm glad people were just using that because they didn't agree or may not have liked the poster.

positive reps are a good thing, it also gives the person being repped the knowledge that individuals appreciate the information they provide.

I voted no. Keep it, but fix the problems with it.

LOL, people I am not going to get all upset about something that a poster is asking an opinion on..If this issue was really up for discussion and a vote it would have been posted by Administrator..who I hope is not even considering this..

I'm torn I must admit. Seems to be a bit useless if you don't keep the neg's with the pos's. Every system can be gamed. Not having consequences IMO encourages trolling, and there are plenty of trolls who know very well how to stay just shy of where the moderator can step in. After all - it's a "reputation system" not a popularity contest.

In that far distant past I once called high school I learned a lot more from the BAD grades I got than from the GOOD grades....

Still - all in all - keep it.

Blue62, as usual, makes an excellent point. Is this something that the Administrator is considering? I'd love to hear from the Administrator or the Senior Moderators on the issue.

Thanks.
Charley

No, we are not considering it at this moment. However, everyone is welcome to express their opinions on the subject.

I think we should be given an option on whether we want to participate in the ratings system. Those who don't want to participate, who don't want to receive feedback, can disable this feature.

I think negative ratings should continue to be disabled for everyone. There are some very petty people who frequent this board who are oh so sensitive about certain subjects and used the negative rating in a manner in which it wasn't intended. This really created a negative experience here, and limited freedom of expression.

I think the rep system should stay. I like being able to say "good answer" or "thanks for participating" with just a little note.

Also, with out it what would we have our little star & gold bar parties?
