This visit was made to conduct a routine food safety evaluation. The Person in Charge was very helpful during the visit. The following issues require attention:
1. Please ensure that raw eggs are stored below any ready to eat food products to prevent any risk of cross contamination
2. Please monitor the walk in freezer to ensure that excess ice does not accumulate on food products
*Repeat Observations are Subject to Civil Penalty
  • Critical: Food Protection from Contamination / Separate Raw from RTE (corrected on site)
    Observation: Observed shelled eggs stored over cartons of milk in an open display unit. .
    Correction: Raw foods like poultry, beef, pork, seafood, and eggs shall be stored properly inside refrigerators and freezers to prevent cross contamination. Raw foods shall be stored on shelving units below or separated from all cooked foods, commercially processed foods, washed produce, leftover foods, etc. Person in Charge to change location of the eggs.
  • Cleaning Frequency for Physical Facilities
    Observation: Observed that the walk in freezer is in need of cleaning. Observed build up of ice on the floor and food items on the floor frozen to the floor in the ice.
    Correction: Clean the physical facilities at a frequency necessary to ensure the protection and safe preparation of food.

This visit was made to conduct a routine food safety evaluation. The following item requires attention:
1. The entrances leading to the grocery store from the garage are not approved for the storage of food items. Finished surface materials for the floors, walls, and ceilings do not meet the current 2013 Food Code as being constructed of non-absorbent, smooth, durable, and easily cleanable. Currently the flooring is carpet, wall has a flat finished surface, and ceiling tiles are porous. Discontinue the display of produce items at these entry ways. Entry ways were not approved for the storage/display of food items during the pre-opening inspection conducted on November 18, 2015.
Note: Produce department is very well maintained and operated. Manager at time of evaluation was extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
  • Carpeting / Restrictions
    Observation: Carpet tiles are the finished surface materials for the entries leading into the store from the garage parking. At the time of the observation there was oranges, avocados, and tomatoes on display for sale stored directly on top of carpet.
    Correction: Carpet is not an approved finished materials surface for the storage/display of foods. Entry ways were not approved for the storage of foods at the pre-opening inspection, discontinue the display of produce in the entry ways.
  • Wall / Ceiling Covering / Nonabsorbent & Cleanable
    Observation: The following areas of this food establishment had walls constructed of a material that was not smooth, nonabsorbent, and easily-cleanable: entry ways from garage to store. Currently store is displaying produce in this non-approved for food storage areas.
    Correction: Indoor wall construction shall be finished and sealed to provide a smooth, nonabsorbent, easily cleanable surface. Discontinue the display of produce food items in garage entries.
01/20/2015Routine
This visit was made to conduct a pre-opening evaluation.
The following items shall be corrected prior to opening:
1. Pitted floor surrounding floor sink under prep sink and curbing in the produce walk-in cooler shall be repaired to provide a smooth, non-absorbent, and easily cleanable surface.
Hot water: 114 degrees F.

This visit was made to conduct a construction visit. The following items require correction:
-seal/caulk junctures through out grocery store to include prep tables
-replace burnt out light fixtures
-replace missing ceiling tiles
-finish surfaces for floors, walls, and ceilings shall be non-absorbent, smooth, and easily cleanable
-make sure all cold holding equipment is operating at 41 degrees F or less

-replace ceiling tiles to provide non-absorbent smooth and easily cleanable surfaces
-make sure air gap is provided for 3-compartment sink, ice machine, and prep sink
-properly install espresso machine to provide a backflow preventer
-repair damaged flooring near floor sink
-seal/caulk junctures through out department
-finish surfaces for floors, walls, and ceilings shall be non-absorbent, smooth, and easily cleanble
