Education - Colorado Springs, Colorado

Education - Education & Child Care

Diversity in educational institutions does not come more far-ranging than in the Pikes Peak region. From two of the world’s most competitive, elite higher education colleges to preschools that focus on those already identified as at-risk, our region encompasses it all.

In higher education, there are a plethora of choices. Colleges and universities cater from interests of general studies to rocket science. There are a number of religious-based curriculums, offering programs for those looking at ministry as a profession. And technical and vocational schools prepare the population for careers as diverse as refrigeration repair and massage therapy.

Elementary through secondary schools are just as diverse. There are traditional public schools, magnet public schools, the option to choice into a different school, and charter schools. That’s just public. For private schools there are religious-based, curriculum-based, and boarding schools that allow local day students. If you can’t find the right school for your family, you probably just haven’t done enough research. And in general, the schools are good. Overall, the students in the Pikes Peak region achieve Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP) scores and high school graduation rates 3 to 5 percent higher than the state of Colorado averages.

Preschool and child care are populated by a number of national chains, strong public-funded options and many, many local church, community, or private concerns. It’s still a lot of work to explore all the options, but options there are—in abundance.
