Informative plaques line the walkway, summarizing the city’s early history and the events that led to the deaths of the Franciscan missionaries who are commemorated by a 20-foot white metal cross at the path’s end. From the top of the hill, you get a lovely view of the city and a panorama of the Sangre de Cristo, Jémez, and Sandía mountains—a reward for your energetic effort.
