The college 'reality pill' = fewer USA students. Unlikely offset by foreign enrollment (but at least they pay higher fees). Don't count on them forever, as USA academics decline as most of the world expands. Several international colleges are free, most are far less expensive than USA. We are now global+/-.

Better to RIGHT size sooner than later.

Probably a good idea to not grow student housing as dorms. Few can afford that, and it should not be mandatory. Part of growing up, is figuring out how to support (and house) yourself. Finding, securing , and paying your own rent and food is an important step to freedom and responsibility.

WWU is unlikely to successfully recruit foreign students to any significant degree. The UW has already been doing that for decades. WWU will have to come up with a different strategy. Especially since they don't have housing to offer foreign students paying top dollar.

WWU doesn't have mandatory dorms (unlike some other colleges). But currently they don't have enough dorms for those students who want them.

That's part of the housing shortage in town. The students have to live somewhere.

The local newspaper picked up this AP article. I'm guessing this is the homeless camp behind the Walmart in Bellevue that posters have referred to.

I’m not following. What’s the connection between opioid crisis in Lummi nation and homeless camp in Bellevue?

I think CalWorth mistyped or autocorrected Bellevue for Bellingham.

Ooops, sorry! I meant Bellingham, yes I know the difference. Never try to go on the internet after dental work! This article is discussing Bellingham area.
