Go to the local county courthouse and talk to someone, you'll feel so much better learning YOUR rights and file a legal official eviction. Do not change locks as suggested as this is illegal and cops will make u let the con artist back in.
Do not have any further discussion with these bozos. Do things the legal way: read up on housing laws in your state.

I am watching on Netflix: The worst roommate ever Episode: Roommate Wanted Part 1

I strongly suggest you watch this. I have not watched part 2 yet but I think it might be that one squatter finally got stopped.

I honestly think it would behoove you to get a job or two before trying to rent out a room in your home after this nightmare leaves most likely 3 months from now if you are lucky.

Edit: Please don't watch it while he is there to hear it. You don't want him to know about this on Netflix or allow him to hear you watching it. It may give him some more ideas to drive you up a wall.

OK, I'm thinking it's about time for an update from OP soon. It's almost been a week...

If Stealth actually meant that steps 2-5 are the "legal" way to do it, well, that would be bad advice. I'm not an expert on WA law, but I can't imagine they are more protective of landlords than some of the conservative states I've lived in. Even in those states, if you did this to someone and locked them out without an eviction process, YOU would be the one in trouble, and will soon have a visit from the cops to let them back in your house. DON'T do this. Society is impacted much more by homelessness than it is by your temporary discomfort and uneasiness in your home and tenants have a lot of protections. Right or wrong, it's just the way it is, and the problems that spiral from homelessness are widespread across the country.

As others mentioned, talk to the court or a lawyer. Get the ball rolling soon so the clock starts ticking on the eviction process. If you are being threatened by them, report that as well and you may be able to get a restraining order.

Also, do you have a partner who can handle this in the future? No offense, but you don't seem fully equipped to be landlording. Never take in a tenant who doesn't have money up front.

here here I second. I hope the OP watched that Netflix video. But mostly I hope he/she is safe and does what others here suggested. The security camera's will be a big help but seriously get legal help. If push comes to shove and eviction is necessary it could take up to 3 months depending on the situation to get the squatter out.

God I hope I never have to feel I need to live with a stranger in my unit. Nope not worth the risk.

A first time poster with a long, elaborate, and implausible story. Don't expect them to come back.
