Fair point.

Your post was misleading. Average "high" temperatures are not "average" (low to high) temperatures - there is a 10-18F difference between highs and lows. Highs and lows are themselves averages. Average lows are below 40F for five months out of the year.

I grew up in Aberdeen and spent tons of time, all seasons, at the ocean (Westport/Grayland, Ocean Shores/Oyhut, Copalis Beach, Moclips, the Quinault beaches, etc.), beach-combing, rock-hunting, clam-digging, dock-fishing, etc. Go to the beach in late October or early April? Better bundle up!

I don’t know what you are referring to. (“Average highs are not average” makes no sense.) Of course every average high is an average of a period of time. Not sure why you are not comprehending that.

My post was not misleading. I was stating a meteorological fact. Average monthly high is real, it exists. It is commonly used in every cities meteorological records. Please check your facts or general understanding of how climate records are recorded.

Seattle has higher average summer temperatures and about half the rainfall as Aberdeen. Winter average temperatures are pretty similar.

Aberdeen WA annual climate graph

Seattle/Tacoma WA annual climate graph

And for the sake of contrast, Spokane WA, climate graph

There are three temperature averages: High, Low, and Average. "Average" is the average of High and Low temperatures. All three are still averages. You did not say you were only referring to High temperatures, which was what was misleading.

I thought my post was specific with high temps. But carry on if you must. I will move on to other more intelligent threads. I think you just want conflict here. Unnecessary.

You said nothing about "high" temperatures ("52 to 64 degrees tends to be year round, with the occasional rare 70 plus day!"), until I specifically asked which temperatures you were referring to. I'm not saying you were intentionally trying to mislead anyone, but from my own personal first-hand experience, having grown up down there, I just knew that you were misinformed (especially about "the coast temp is usually about the same year ‘round"). You can accept that or not. I really don't care.

Average high temperatures will give you an idea of how warm it gets at different times of the year, but they tell you nothing about how cold it gets.
