Yeah was just teasing family in Florida about that. Nothing but sun in our extended forecast, but down there it’s all clouds and thunderstorms. Which state is the sunshine state again?

We had 29F and clear this morning, yesterday it was 30 when I got up. I actually don't remember having many years with a heavy frost quite this early, usually it's been into November. Makes one wonder what January might bring.

If you look at the sun averages, Portland averages 151 hours of sun in October. Seattle has 143 hours. November-January are the true gloomy months.

If you have lived here long enough, you should know this is totally unrelated. It could be cold and snowy in November or March and warmer and snowless in January and December. The weather here makes no sense. Seasons are not well-defined.

This year has been out of the norm for sure, we are usually into the never-ending rainy season and I was shocked to see sunny-overcast forecasts for the next week. We do need it though, because we had two rain events that surpassed our entire months rain record so it's nice that things will dry out some.
The worst part(rainy season aside), is that soon it's be dark when I get up for work and dark again when I get back home...daylight is only about 8am-4:30pm or less, during the winter here.

People have selective memory. Last October was a lot drier, sunnier and had warmer days than this one. October 2016 was one of those that was dark, rainy and windy.

I don't know. I always think that there is price for everything and it is ok to pay it. There is a balance and fairness in it. You pay the price, you get the goods, and as long as you like the goods and the price is fair, there is nothing to complain about.

What does baffle me somewhat is the tendency of the c-d posters to "send" everyone away at the slightest complaint or sometimes even just a perceived complaint about something in PNW, anything at all - and the immediate default reaction is "you are clearly suffering and unhappy and should move elsewhere". I don't think I've seen it to the same extent on other States' forums. People discuss things, complain about things, deal with things, it doesn't mean that they want or should move. It's just normal course of life.

I'm really looking forward to that. I love seeing a completely dark, clear, starry night. Here's a shot I just took on my last business trip to Monterey. The sky is very dark and clear down in Big Sur pretty much year round.

You said it better than I could! Thank you.
