I'm very happy that this has finally passed. It's about time.

Some Native American boys have had been discriminated against in school for having long hair.

You gotta watch those brown-haired 45-50 year old dudes. They are greying at that age, but use $10 Just For Men to hide it. It’s so obviously unnatural—that means those guys must be troublemakers. (The ladies will confirm it.)

How did you leave the light on in the refrigerator?
Did it have a manual switch or something?

It seems the CROWN Act didn't include hair length. So this student has been in suspension for six months, denied instructional materials and hot food.

Don't understand why this would happen or why a school would take such a stand instead of focusing on education. The judge made the ruling today against the student in Barbers Hill.

George exited the courtroom in tears, walking alongside his mother and several lawmakers who co-authored the CROWN Act.

“As I was walking down with Ms. George and Darryl, you could sense the anger, you could sense the confusion,” said Candice Matthews, the statewide chair of the Texas Coalition of Black Democrats. “Darryl told me, with tears in his eyes: ‘All this because of my hair?’”

Judge says Texas school district can punish Black student for length of his hairstyle

Dr. Greg Poole, the superintendent of Barbers Hill ISD recently took out a full-page ad in the Houston Chronicle defending the position saying the policy is legal and teaches students to conform as a sacrifice benefitting everyone.

So the law was passed because the school was trying to prevent a student from walking during graduation because of his locks, and this judge now rules that the law doesn't apply to locks. The whole issue started because of this same school's issue with another student and his locks.

The school is making too big an issue over a hair style in this day and age when we encourage young folks to be themselves.

It's a law about discrimination, not hair styles.

I am all for it personally. By the way, I do want to respond to the poster who said that now days employers are more concerned with safety issues than with hair styles or whatever. I don't really think that's true. I worked as a bank manager for years and years and we cared a lot about any tattoos that showed, denim in any form or fashion, piercings, unnatural hair colors, etc. I just left an employer who insisted on no jeans, and no unnatural hair colors. I am not sure about tattoos but I didn't see any on anyone there.

That’s great, but we are talking about schools, not banks
