The Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013 passed the Senate 78-22.

The six highest ranking Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee all voted against it:
– Grassley
– Hatch
– Graham
– Cornyn
– Lee
– Cruz

Quote:
House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has not called for a vote on a full authorization of the the bill, despite calls to do so, including from 46 members of his own party, as well as Democratic leaders and more than 50 attorneys general.
GOP will let it expire end of September, focus on their effort to push Kavanaugh into the highest judicial office.

Can we get something a little more mainstream so we can at least have an honest discussion?

If the GOP condemned violence against women they would need to address the sexual assaulter in the White House. We already know they lack the cojones to do so. Easier to throw more than half the population under the bus to keep their sexual assaulter propped up.

The old white men in the Senate need to go. They are way past their expiration date.

What is in the act that wasn't there before?
Was violence against women legal before the act?

So, you just didn't care before ? From this list , I only went back 17 years...it looks like both sides have issues. I'm sure you just ignore that fact though.

They did, many times, until he finally left office in 2001.

But the Democrats kept insisting that "What he did in his private life had no effect on his performance in office, and therefore it's OK."

And "Drag a $50 bill through a trailer park and that's what you get."

And "She's just a stalker, women like that don't deserve to be paid attention to."

Surely you remember?

Agree, but as usual theconversation gets turned into look who voted against it rather than the validity of the act in the first place.
The pro side (pandering to the female voter side) will try to paint those so opposed as condoning violence against women. Patently ridiculous, but so it goes with politics.
