Piggly Wiggly was the world's first supermarket, and originated in Memphis, Tennessee.

When I lived in TX they built an In-And-Out next to the Whataburger in my town. Went once and then went back to Whataburger for good. Whataburger always had more traffic, even with the competition.

I miss Whataburger but the closest one to me is in Nashville (4.5 hour drive).

Half of California has already moved here and has been bugging them for years for a restaurant here. There had been a “Bring In-N-Out to Middle Tennessee” Facebook page for years.

The issue has been that they do not build restaurants any further than a certain distance from their distribution centers and the closest has been in Texas, which is not close enough. Thankfully all this will change with the news today. Also, about five years ago the owner said they would never be east of Texas. She obviously has changed her mind.

I must have in n out confused with Cook-Out

2 Whataburger near Memphis & Cordova

5 Whataburger near Nashville: Gallatin, Hermitage, Lebanon, Smyrna, Madison next.

I missed In-n-Out's Double Double Animal Style with Fries Well Done until my work sent me on a trip to SOCAL a couple years ago. I excitedly went straight to the nearest In-n-Out only to discover it had been better in my memory than in reality. So disappointing.

Culver's, Jack's, and Whataburger are so much better.

Whataburger is MUCH better. I never got the hype with In-N-Out.

Glad to hear In N Out has reversed strategy and decided to head further east. Previously they have stated they would not venture past Texas. Perhaps after setting up in Nashville they will consider Knoxville or Pigeon Forge. But I am hoping they will join Whataburger with expansion plans for the I-85 corridor, including Atlanta, Greenville-Spartanburg and Charlotte.

Does Whataburger cost the same as In-n-Out?

Double double combo at In-N-Out is $6.70. The same combo at Whataburger is $8.89.
