Hello!
My family and I are thinking of relocating from FL to TN. My husband is a Fire Fighter, so I am curious if there are any in here that can give insight on benefits and pay and which areas are the best to work.

We have no experience in the snow, so looking for an area that gets mild winters. The temps don't scare us, its the actual snow fall we have no idea how to maneuver.

FL is just getting too congested, and over built with very little infrastructure. So looking for a quiet area to raise our 2 yo.

I am an Ultrasound Tech, so if there are any healthcare workers in here, please let me know good areas and a range of income.

ANY information on where to go would be great.
really appreciate it

Can't help with any firefighter info, but we don't get more than a couple inches of snow per year, so you're okay on that front.

I have friends who used to live in Boca that moved just south of Knoxville—they find the winters surprisingly mild. And love the money they’re saving—much lower COL overall.

Maybe you shouldn't be near the mountains....the hills, windy roads (no shoulders), and lack of street lights in these rural areas make winter even harder. Depends how much city you want around you. Knoxville and Chattanooga both have flat areas, I am not sure about Tri-Cities.

Can't answer your other questions but snow is not really an issue. Snow is rarely heavy and it melts fast so that what falls one day usually melts the next. Most of the main roads are also treated.

Op has only one post to her credit and it was nearly 2 months ago and has never come back since then. I'd take her post with a grain of salt before investing too much time and effort into finding the info she claims she's looking for.

Ahh I hate when that happens, I didn't look at OPs date myself....why would someone have resurrected this thread from the dead?

That person probably didn't look at the date or the number of posts either. Same thing has happened to me several times since I been coming to C-D, so I usually make it a point to check for op's number of posts and the date. A few of those posts I put a lot of thought and time into them, too. The silver lining is maybe somebody will come along that will find the information useful and/or helpful.

Old post but why does everyone from Florida think of Tennessee as the frozen north?
