What an asinine metric.
Yeah, done by far left CNBC, so no surprise.

They think anyone living outside of Boston/NYC/DC /Chicago/LA/ Seattle/San Fran are rednecks who walk around barefoot.

Such a narrow minded view of the world these people have.

Exactly!

Tons of people from California and Illinois are moving to Nashville. I know of about 15 people personally.

Escaping their own high tax, liberal hellholes LOL.

Yep, so true and sad.

What is fascinating about a lot of the far left/liberal/"educated" and "woke" people, is that they live in such narrow minded world view boxes, and think they are progressive and educated far beyond the rest of the population in 99.9% of the country.

They need to stay in their "woke" sanctuary, high-taxed cities. The rest of us are perfectly cool that they remain where they are. LOL

These reports are largely non factual and written by people that have never lived in the states that they're slamming. I grew up in New England and enlisted in the Navy when I graduated from high school. Since then I've lived in four different parts of California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Washington state, South Carolina, Louisiana and Michigan. I've also traveled all over the U.S. and spent time working in all but three states. Tennessee has it's detractors but over all I enjoy living here. The cost of living is quite good, the taxes are low, the winters are relatively mild and there are a lot of things to do here especially if you enjoy the outdoors. I live in a city that is with excellent restaurants, cozy watering holes, historical sites, sports, cultural events, several universities, museums, excellent medical facilities, minimal traffic compared to other urban areas and a good job market. I wouldn't move back to the northeast if someone gave me a house. I'm quite happy in Tennessee.

I’m glad TN does not have a bunch of special rights for the LGBTQWFTVs
Let your ignorance flag fly. They do not want special rights. They want the same rights as the rednecks.

They can have all that in California.....This however is a Christian state. I support traditional values and a Christian way of life. Since this part of America is commonly called the “Bible Belt” we can assume far more people agree with my position on this issue.

Thankfully our founding fathers enshrined states rights in our constitution and many states up north or out west follow the values you seem to support. Since we can all vote with our feet we all have a choice to change our state of residence if we find ourselves living somewhere where the local values and laws do not match ours own.

I think it is a great place to live. Low taxes, a low cost of living and relatively lax laws. No state is perfect, but Tennessee allows me to keep more of my money and spend it how I see fit instead of extorting more of it and choosing how it is spent for me. The weather in the winter is relatively comfortable also. If I had grown up here I wouldn't ever plan on leaving.

Honestly, people who have more of a liberal and urban mindset should pick a different state if the things listed in the article bother them so bad.

Again, I have heard good things about the Ozarks but have only been up that way as a kid, years ago.

Tennessee’s infrastructure is bad around Nashville and more specifically the interstates. Traffic is bad in Middle Tennessee mainly due to poor highways and Interstates that converge in downtown with bad exit/entrance ramps and lane shifts.

I don’t think TN is the worst place to live...but some people don’t fit with certain places. My experience in Nashville was not good, but I think Chattanooga and Knoxville would be a better fit if I had to live in TN again.
You're right about MEM-LR being the most boring 135 miles anywhere. But those farms are as beautiful of farms as there are in the world--to an agricultural person.

I worked in Northern AR for many years while living in Memphis, and some of the premier lakes anywhere are up on the ARK/MO border. And the character of the local citizens is absolutely incredible. Don't call anyone in Arkansas on Wednesday nights as they're gone to Prayer Meeting. Little Rock may have some social issues, but North Little Rock and the suburbs like Conway are fine places to live. I have friendships there going back 40+ years.

You have to understand that Nashville and Middle Tennessee is one big limestone cap. Every inch of every road and every utility line has got to be drilled and blasted. Building roads there is unbelievably expensive. Unfortunately incoming citizens has overloaded their ability to build new roads. They have to make due having 3 major interstates meeting in Nashville.

You may be overlooking the really fine societies of the middle size towns around Nashville--Hendersonville, Gallatin, Lebanon, Murfreesboro, Columbia, Franklin, Brentwood and others. It's a place with an incredible quality of life filled with incredible music and festivals. Where can you see so many famous people--outside of Los Angeles? You need to visit Leiper's Fork outside of Franklin and eat at Puckett's to see what I mean. It's good enough for both Judds, Justin Timberlake, Amy and Vince and Nicole and Keith.

And I also like Knoxville and Chattanooga too.

You want to see a high quality of life in Middle Tennessee, look at the below website. My college roommate grew up in that house, and there are 5 other comparable homes within 4 miles. Go 15 miles north to Franklin, TN, and the quality of homes are absolutely incredible--both old and new.
