Haven't seen any discussion or anything specifically related to Sumter or the Sumter area lately. If any locals on the forum know of or heard of anything, please feel free to share. I see the Buffalo Wild Wings going up, and the building on bultman drive. And a few road projects in town that I cant wait to be done with already.
There is a big construction project going on at the corner of Manning Ave. and Hwy 15. I'm told it will be a truck stop. Makes sense. Hwy 15 has the biggest concentration of industry and probably the most truck traffic.

Wasnt there some opposition to this? I guess it may have been from the folks who live nearby?
Are you talking about there on bultman drive, I been hearing lots of people saying a Wal-Mart grocery store going there. That I really don't believe, because I don't know of a stand alone Wal-Mart supermarket. A Publix would be nice though.

Publix and Walmart Neighborhood Market are two supermarkets I would expect to see in Sumter very soon.
I just googled it and Wal-Mart does have a stand alone Neighborhood Market. That's what I'm hearing from people so maybe that is indeed what is. I know they are not messing around over there on the construction site, so we should know soon.
