But it might be a moot point, since I was just offered a different job in Tacoma. I'll post a separate thread about that.
That's about rock bottom for a house of any size on the Eastside.

North Tacoma is nice and more affordable. Here's a smaller house with a big fenced yard for the dogs ($550k):

Gizmo, I love the Historic Proctor District in North Tacoma, really great vibe and good house for money value, imo. Here’s the community link: https://theproctordistrict.com/

As I just mentioned above, I ended up getting a good offer in Tacoma; so I'm gonna post separately about that, to narrow down where I might live if I take that job. Leaning towards yes, but I told them I'd give an answer next week.

I am from the Olympia area, and it's good for what you're looking for and you would get more for your money, but you don't need to come this far south for a place. As I said on your Tacoma thread, around Summit east of Tacoma is a great growing area eastward: Puyallup, Buckley, Bonney Lake, Graham are all great areas with older big lot subdivisions and big dog yards.

Thanks for all the info! Olympia is too far south, since my friends are all up in/around Seattle. It seemed like a nice town when I visited, though.
