Could your parents buy you a bus ticket?

Can you contact your parents? Call them and ask for help. Preferably, they'd send you a bus ticket, or wire you some money to buy a bus ticket, and make your way home.

Yes I agree, call your parents.
It is admirable to try to do this all by yourself, it’s just that this is the right time for family help.

Googling, I came up with the above. A lot of times these people know someone they can call directly, which would really help the situation.

Good links. I hope the OP uses them if he really wants to stay in the area.

Every other day I buy a generic gallon of water at Safeway and use that, in conjunction with soap and a washcloth to clean myself.

With that, I applied at Berkeley Bowl on Shattuck Ave in Berkeley. But the hiring manager won't even give me a first interview.

Were you thinking of getting a shelf-stocking job? If you could get a fresh set of clothes from Goodwill or St. Vincent's, or somewhere, you could try applying at Whole Foods, or any market. You can look them up on the 'net to see who's advertising for a stock clerk job. Some stores also will hire people with no experience for a deli job. Are there any co-ops in town? Those are more flexible sometimes, for people with no customer service experience. And btw, for WF and other grocers, the application process usually begins online, filling out their application when an opening comes up that you're qualified for.

But yes, you should check out your option with your parents. It would be easier to apply for jobs when you don't have rent to worry about, and have routine access to bathing facilities, not to mention--food, and a warm bed.

Mr. Laurent. I just happened to run across an old thread of yours from 2012. Seems you were having problems then. And living in the bay area, panhandling. I guess I'm wondering ... have you been out here struggling since 2012? Maybe California isn't a good fit for you, if you've been at this for over ten years. You may have forgotten when you wrote last time . Here's the thread, in case you forgot.
