I think I have finally narrowed my potential retirement destinations (or at least second home locations) down to three: Brooklyn NY, the northern city of my heart; St. Augustine FL, the southern city of my heart, and Virginia Beach VA, the sensible compromise that leaves my heart somewhat unstirred, but ticks all the boxes.
What will state income tax, sales tax, property tax be for you?
How comfortable are you with the political situation in each location?

It's on my radar for family reasons, and I liked the vibe I experienced there, but I lack detailed knowledge of the place. I would appreciate your - and others' - input.
Go wherever you are the happiest. Personally, you couldn't pay me enough money to live in NYC or Florida, but it's not my decision.
