I still need at least 8 hours sleep. I am still a night owl. I still can't get up early. The only difference is that I find it harder and harder to get to sleep and that's the case no matter how physically active I've been. I can't nap--once I'm up, I'm up. With 9 or 10 hours sleep I'd probably feel better, so I'd say I need more sleep than when I was younger.

After writing this I went to be around midnight and finally got up at 8:30. It's been a long time since I slept this long, most every day I wake up and can't get back to sleep after 5-6 hours.

I try for 7 hours but my sleep monitor shows that I wake up 4 or 5 times, but I don't remember it usually. The more deep and REM sleep I get the better I feel even if I just get 5 hours or less. I stay up late with books and wake up at 8:30. I use a CPAP.

I can sleep 9-10 hours easily, with a timeout for a potty break. The pain in my knees radiates up my thighs and down to my ankles. Tylenol helps a little.

Oh, heck no, I need MORE sleep! My problem is ongoing insomnia, so i NEVER get enough! When I was young I had no issue with sleeping only 2-3 hours, sometimes there was no choice. When that happens now, I'm a zombie, would rather just be dead & get it over with rather than be walking dead.

No cataracts. Had the surgery in 2011. Also had glaucoma surgery (both eyes).

My husband is losing his sight due to Macular Degeneration. He hasn't driven in about five years and will be 82 in October. I feel for you.

He's been ill with several problems over the last few years and is in slow decline. He is happiest when I'm sitting with him during the day. I am not happiest, though. In fact the atmosphere in our home is stultifying, for me at least.

So, I head off to bed at 10:30 with no intention of going to sleep (I'm 68). I stay up reading and doing whatever the heck I want until around 1:30 or so. If I wake up before noon, I go right back to sleep. That's less time for me having to be the caregiver, lol. Still, when this is over in whatever form it takes, I hope to go to bed at 10:30 both to sleep and get up at a decent hour. Right now, sleep is an escape for me.

I've learned that cutting down on blue light sources and listening to classical piano (iHeart music app) for a half hour before I go to bed gives me a solid 7.5 hours of deep sleep a night. I'm 65.
