Never thought I'd be reluctant to back up into a parking space.(Or even my narrow driveway)

I do like my stretchy pants, but everyone wears them now, not just old people. Or at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it....LOL

I never thought I'd get so lazy about housekeeping. I used to be on top of it all the time, because I lived alone, and only used a few parts of my house. Now I have a hubby who's actually pretty neat and tidy, but I've just gotten tired of keeping my house spotless "just in case we get company".

We never thought we would be the type of grandparents who enjoyed torturing our grandkids by singing “What’s New Pussycat” loudly and complete with the whoa-whoa-whoa bit. We did yesterday with the two grandkids in the back seat. It started innocently enough with one of us singing a line and the other joining in and then it went out of control from there. The older grandkid told the younger one to quit putting his hands over his ears: that was just making them (us) sing louder. She was right and even worse for them, we knew all the words.

Resistance is futile; we are fully embracing our inner grandparent now.

Not to be a downer, but I never thought I would move across the country into our newly built house by myself after the love of my life died unexpectedly at the age of 60 just months before his planned retirement. He would’ve loved it out

I must add that, although I’m missing my groovy groom, I’m doing a-okay. I’ve already met a lot of nice people, and I’m enjoying the weather, the wildlife, the fitness center, and the neighborhood.

I never thought life would be so, so different after retirement (and, except for my guy, I mean that in a good way)!

I never thought I would live to be old, so I'm not surprised at much else.

I'm just 50, but I'm loving these responses. I have always found my elders to be very inspiring and deserving of my respect. Although I know it won't be a cake walk, you guys take the fear out of aging!

Isn't that special!

I never thought I'd be living in a beachfront condo, without "this much money".

Never really thought about retirement at all until we got here, so it's all kind of a surprise. Couldn't relate to getting this old, lol. When I made a hair appointment recently, the stylist said in broken English: "What! You have 66 years!" They were all shocked, so I'm thinking they don't get many seniors, lol. But he was pleased enough at the results to make a professional video, lol.

I never anticipated saying or thinking "I'm too old for this" unless it was sky-diving or mogul-skiing. Now it's like when the bus takes off before I can sit down.
