I'm 18 and thinking about moving from Arkansas to Reno, NV.

How much would the cost of living be higher?
Min. Wage here is like six something an hour and **** is expensive.

How expensive is **** there?

Brown being one of the "top schools in the State" is not saying much in a state that ranks 49 in education nation wide.

Why do you think South Meadows will be a ghetto in ten years?

Yeah I find that intriguing as well. I don't know much about south meadows but on the surface it just seems like an average middle class suburb.

If (and big IF) the city decides to revitalize it, that should fix that. Generally these types of efforts are at the behest of a developer who want's to increase density and bring in more tax $$ for the city. If some developer gets his/her eye on it, nearly anywhere can be turned into the ghetto.

Of course property density doesn't tell the entire story. Town I was born in (well, until our family got out) Lynwood California was pretty nice, until they started 'revitalizing' Watts (right next door). Everything went to hell in less than a year, I remember being assaulted weekly when walking home from school..

Just my 2cents...

I tend to agree with the negative comments about Reno. On the surface it looks nice but we found the people here for the most part cold, unfriendly, and rude. We found the school we sent our son to (Caughlin Ranch) to be horrible and it's listed as one of the top schools in the area.

Reno should have potential as it's located close to very interesting areas (mammoth lakes, the bay area, utah, etc) but because of it's high transient population and poor economy the area just sucks.

We've been here just 8 months and we can't take it no more and that's saying something. The people here just suck.

So in a couple weeks we're saying Bye Bye to Reno.

Most places have bad people, indifferent people and good people. Sounds like you're looking for small town mayberry, good luck with that. Different strokes for different folks.

Sorry, nice try. I've lived all over the world and Reno is the worst by far.

In your opinion. Like I said, different strokes.

Ever lived Compton? Lynwood? Watts? I have, and I don't even consider them all that bad. Reno is shangri la in comparison.

Yes, it's all relative... I'm just putting this out here to let people know what we've found.
