"The sun" is our sun. So to cause that to happen, yeah, we probably will be on borrowed time if we see that. And it could happen.
"A sun", could be any other star. Again, a number of things could cause that. For example Beetlejuice, although that would rise in the east. But what about a large comet. Would they call something that can be seen in the day time a "sun".
So specifics would be real important. Otherwise just saying "some celestial event is going to happen" is like saying "the sun will rise tomorrow.". Or "you will be judged on the last day of humans". Yeah, so what, nothing special there either.
I used to talk about this with kids: "predict how we can end. Somebody is going to right, why not you guys.". The basics were covered. But boy the fun we had coming up endings that only children can conceive.

The Sun cannot rise in the west. Never has, never will. The only way that could happen were the Earth to reverse its direction of rotation, which a) there is no mechanism to cause such a thing, and b) would obliterate all life were it to happen, so there would be nothing left to look for this 'sign'
