a person has some knowledge of Jewish faith and practices before they ever even make the decision to convert.
You are asking how does a person learn this? Through participation and being part of a Jewish community and classes and study and self-examination and identifying with the Jewish people and talking to the rabbi and going to shul.

So, you’re stating that one receives the thorough knowledge of Judaism and it’s practices AFTER going through the conversion process...

I tell some immigrants that they are more American than I am I was just born here. They look at me like I have three heads. I tell them that in short, being "American" is an idea not a country.

do you think that can be true for religions? I often think ones that converted to the religion actually made more of as choice than those just born into it.

there are a variety of reasons a person might have for wanting to convert to Judaism. Some of the reasons are not valid, and for that reason not everyone is accepted as a candidate for conversion. Part of the process is honest self-examination of a person's reasons, motivation, and intention in seeking to convert. Judaism does not seek converts.

I get that, the vetting process. Assume a good soul. although my guess is we should be vetting parents as hard as you do converts.

the question is, do you think people that made an active choice to be one of the group actually are more understanding of the religion sometimes?

Like some immigrants, I was just born American, they live American.

You listed things that are necessary for an individual to convert, and one of them was “a thorough knowledge of Judaism and its practices” and I asked how can he know anything until an individual has gone through the conversion process...

But, it sounds like you are stating that they must have a thorough knowledge of Judaism and it’s practices before they can even be considered for conversion...

Jews don't advertise for converts, unlike many, if not most other religions.

They have something in common with Jehovah Witnesses, in that each sect considers themselves apart from all others and revel in that apart-ness. Both groups feel their god, or g-d, likes them best.
