I've never hears that before. Apage love is a deep, uncomditional love for one's fellow human beings that comes from the heart. It does not need to be earned and it expects nothing in return. I don't see how "tough love" applies at all.

Funny word 'agape'.

In the sense that it's used most regularly on this forum. Ie some kind of all encompassing love of god for all humankind, I find it meaningless, sorry. Not meaning to offend anyone that believes that.

To me, if you are imagining a god that loves all of humankind, that's an expression of an emotion you are projecting as though god himself possesses human-like emotional qualities. So if he loves, presumably he has the gamut of all other human emotions as well?
So do we have a god at this point that loves, and hates, and has jealously and fear etc etc. Or are we just cherry picking the love bit?
If we are just cherry picking the love bit, then why are you discounting the other emotions?
It makes no sense to me.

The smarter ones I have spoken with say that they understand that but choose to focus on the good parts. Much like we do without loved ones.

the fact that is important to me is that volumes of the inverse do have emotions. There is nothing we can do to deny that. That needs to be addressed as much as the two faces of god.

I find to many posters express that they have agape love just before they spew a bunch of hatred to those that don't believe like they do. Bible Believers against liberal Christians, atheists , Mormons or JW for examples. Its not tough love or any other kind of love if you cannot tolerate those not just like yourself.

On the other hand I can believe that other posters , such as Katzpur, have it.

Not even close, to be perfectly honest, but I am at least working on it.

If God created humankind "in His image and likeness", would it make sense that if WE have emotions that they came from God because God has emotions? Would His emotions be more 'perfect' than ours, simply because He IS God?

Does the beloved feel the love? Can you give an example of such a love and the experience of being loved? Is it permanent and unchanging?

Is it like mother's love? Loving a sweetheart.
