It's really not that big a deal though. If I were one of these adulterous TV preachers I would just bring up King Solomon. Shows that even the old school Hebrews kind of let that law slide if you were important or rich enough.
Yes, that is a problem. In the end though Solomon didn't get off scott free.
And how, may I ask, can you (or "we") be certain of that? (Understand that "certain" means "I could convince anyone of it, logically, regardless of his/her religious affiliation or lack thereof.)
If you answer "because it's in the Bible", tell me: with all of the translations of the Bible that are out there, all of the theologians who can't seem to agree on what the Bible says, and all of the people of other religious leanings who would say that the Bible is false/heretical/nonsense, how can you be certain, again using my definition, that the Bible is true?
All the translations out there give a certainty of a future judgment in which all mankind will happily have all their past corrected.
We ALL are sinners. He WAS the transmitter. The bottom line is we go to Calvary Chapel to listen to whichever pastor is able to give speak the message, We are not there to worship pastor Bob Coy. We are there to worship our Lord Jesus Christ and that is the bottom line.
P.S. In my respective opinion, the current assistant pastors have been doing a phenomenal job and I applaud them, and Calvary staff.
I have to admit, I feel for the guy a little because when you achieve "rock star" status in a church setting, considering they are often populated by majority women and many of them being lonely and there because of past hurts, it is quite easy to have vulnerability rolling up on you. This guy was well loved and I am sure he sought out and women sought him and it was a match made in wherever. For him, it was a disaster and now his wife and children are left to endure the shame.
I remember listening to Pastor Coy on the radio talking about how a pastor had to be above reproach and not do anything that might make a nonbeliever see him as being a hypocrite, even if the behavior is permissible in the eyes of God.
It was based upon the "stumbling block" passages in one of Paul's letters.
That sermon had a lasting effect on me, since I still remember it.
I wonder if Pastor Coy was struggling with some things at the time and speaking to himself more than his church and radio audience.
Pastor Coy needs prayer now, and I encourage people of such a mind to supply it.
I have a particular hate on for the Calvary Chapel.
One of it's mega churches is 1/2 mile from my condo in Florida. Sunday mornings are a zoo trying to go past there, which is the only route I can take. Police block a PUBLIC roadway so the faithful can get out of the parking lot, and rush to their brunches.
They have three services each Sunday, so one can't avoid the crap that goes on in the morning, and there are multiple times during the week they have traffic jams because of some program or another.
As far as I am concerned, if you need to go to your church, fine, but don't inconvenience the rest of us who could not give a flying fig about whatever sky fairy you think will magically make you live for ever.
Yeah, it makes me angry every time I think about it. What RIGHT do church goers have over the general or secular public to block traffic for THEIR convenience?

If the church was there first, then who forced you to live in that condo?
Pastor Bob was my favorite Bible teacher. I only wish I had downloaded more of his messages so I could still enjoy them. Yeah, he blew it as all Christians do, but he is forgiven because of God's grace. God knows it hard to be human, so He makes a provision for us humans, believe in His Son, Jesus and He will forgive your sin...of-course if you ask for forgiveness. That's the only difference between believers and non-believers, believers get forgiven.

He can certainly be forgiven. If he knows Christ as his savior, he is forgiven.
But he is no longer qualified to be a pastor. He is not above reproach. He has no business in the pulpit.
