I just checked the house down the street that sold 2 months before us (May 2013) and there's not a sold price and when I checked mine - the sold price was listed and public record as the source. Interesting!
This is interesting. For our house, the sold price is $50k lower than what we paid and $200k more than what our sellers paid in 2007. For our old house, the last two sales prices are 100% accurate. I don't really know what to make of it....
The sold price on the house we bought in 2012 is accurate. The sold price of the house we sold in 2004 and the house I sold in 2002 are not accurate...and the are listed as very specific numbers...wonder where that info comes from
I have mixed feelings about Zillow. It's kind of a cool tool for browsing, but I question the value estimates. The zestimate on our home is off by about 100k. There is no sales info listed.
The sold price has been listed on my house since I've been paying attention, at least several months. I assume that it comes from public records. I can find out the sold price of any house I'm interested in by going into the county tax records website.
