More Mission Viejo (I know, some of you are thinking, enough already!)

MV has some of the best parks around. This is a photo of Alicia Park and home to the city's youth softball league.

Parking at the World Cup Soccer Fields. They were the practice fields for the World Cup games.

Sargeant Matt Davis Park, recently named in honor of a MV motor officer killed in a car accident. It is a very pretty park in the Califia neighborhood.

Here is a tour of the new community of Ladera Ranch. It is an unincorporated community located east of Mission Viejo, just south of Rancho Santa Margarita, and north of San Juan Capistrano. The community is primarily accessed by the Crown Valley Parkway bridge which spans the Oneil Regional Park canyon that separates Ladera from Mission Viejo.

Ladera has become the epitome of the master planned community. The houses were each designed to represent a different area (colonial homes, spanish style homes, tudor homes, etc...). The community is also broken up into several villages. The community is pretty much squeaky clean and is excellent for families. Since the oldest homes were built in just 2001 and construction finished last year, almost every home on the block has children. Basically, if you want a family street, this is your place. 25,000 people are estimated to live in the community and the median home price last month according to the OC Register was 615K. So here are some photos of Ladera:

Ladera Ranch pocket park

Some of the "villages" have homes that have no backyard, but open up to a park area and share a common space. The other side of the home is a garage that open to an alleyway.

An example of the common area homes, these ones open up to this pathway and then the other side of the house is a garage.

The Ladera Ranch Library: It is a joint use facility at Ladera Ranch Elementary and Middle School.

Ladera's Swimming complexes and clubs are excellent. This is one of the developments water parks.

Here are a couple pics of Huntington Beach. I just moved from OC to Connecticut last year, and I miss home after seeing all of these pictures.

And this is Seal Beach

Default Moving to California in July

Hi everyone... I loved reading though the forum and seeing all the pic's of OC. My wife, 1yr old daughter, and I will be moving to Southern California in a couple month and it was nice to see some candid pics of the area and get some opinions (good/bad) on the neighborhoods. We are very excited to be moving to the West Coast. I have lived on the East Coast my entire life and love the ocean, but disagree with those who suggest you need 8 months of cold to fully enjoy the 4 months of warm sunny weather, if I want to see snow I will drive a few hours and go skiing ...

I know the intent of this forum is to post pic's, but if anyone reading has any suggestions for a young family moving to the area please feel free to offer your suggestions...they will be greatly appreciated. Maybe you could post some pictures of the neighborhoods you would suggest to keep with the theme of the thread.

If I had it my way we would be buying in a spacious single family home overlooking the pacific ocean in a safe family neighborhood that has enough going on so that every once in a while we could get a sitter and enjoy our late twenties. However, I am realistic...I make more than the 'median' income for the area but know it will take a career of hard work to purchase my dream home overlooking the ocean...with the housing market the way it is we will probably just rent for a few years and try to save some money.

We are just looking for a good community we can meet people and enjoy life. If you know of any such place in OrangeCounty please let us know...we are looking forward to getting out there and enjoying the year round sunshine.

Please post some pictures and make a note of each location! I will start (I apologize as there are only a few pics that I took with my phone).

I couldn't figure out how to put the pictures directly in the post so the first one is the Newport Beach Country Club, second pic is a nice apartment community in Irvine, 3rd is a sunset taken along PCH in Huntington Beach, 4th pic is Laguna Beach.

I've always had a thing for sunsets, and that third pic is a great one. There's nothing better than a line of palm trees and a picturesque changing of colors.
