Not only that, but I am not sure that this is really going to work.

Yel, my eyes glazed over. I didn't know what he was talking about, but he was banking on that. lol. I read the tech on Dell what Synopsis said, but he made no comment.
There's a way to restore your computer back to factory specifications without losing personal files or documents.

If you have XP or higher you have "system restore" in your "system tools" file.
Also, if that's how they had you do it, it can be undone.
Click Start,, All Programs,, Accessories,, System tools,, on the System Tools menu you'll find, System Restore
On the very first window on System Restore there'll be 3 options, the bottom one will say: "undo my last restoration".

Oh gosh, I hate AOL even more than I hate getting up for work. I only pay $9.99 now, but come end of the month, their reign of terror is OVER!!!

I am going to have to DM Peg and get her to give Plainsnet a call, so she can get a months free for referral.

MKFARNAM, sounds like you know your way around a puter too. Guess the okie geek squad is growing! Or you have to be a jr. member until you officially make peggies eye's drool over with glaze. I have not checked out NETZERO yet, but will certainly check them out.
No scratch that, we want off dial up because I cause too many people to GET MAD at me for being on so often. And Plainsnet has 300KB/sec versus dialup 56kb.

You guys are doing good.

Talking Geek humor

A chuckle for our geek squad

A computer engineer, a systems analyst, and a programmer were driving
down a mountain when the brakes gave out. They screamed down the
mountain, gaining speed, and finally managed to grind to a halt,
more by luck than anything else, just inches from a thousand foot
drop to jagged rocks. They all got out of the car.

The computer engineer said, "I think I can fix it."

The systems analyst said, "No, I think we should take it into
town and have a specialist look at it."

The programmer said, "OK, but first I think we should get back
in and see if it does it again."

I guess this is supposed to be funny, if you are a geek.

WHAT'S FUNNY IS:
I taught myself how to use a PC
and
I've taken basic computer programming,

I'm also a Mechanic technically ( Repair Technician)

The link that I give also shows NetZero for HD Broadband.

Their last restoration didn't work. I got a blue screen just now, and then later on the screen went black for a while.

P.S. So they did a different type of restoration, and of course the tech admitted to me that he owned XP and wouldn't have Vista. For $200 I can reinstall Vista. Nice, huh? I wish I never got a Vista.

With "Dial-up" do you have "restore system" or do you have a "recovery disc"?

Make sure all other progams are off.

Go back to "system restore" and on the options click "create restore point", you'll have to give it a name like "before Christmas 07". then on the calender choose a date before all of your problems started.
if that doesn't work: See if "system restore" is turn on.
click "system restore settings" on the window left of the options,
or go to the settings this way,
Go to your "control Panel"(you'll find that at the right in the "start" window)
Click "Performance and Maintenance" Then "system" in the top left hand corner there will be a "system Restore" tab, click that and see if you system restore is on or off.

Note
Also for anyone that wants to turn on or off your "Automatic Updates", the "system" window discribed above is where it can be done.
