In your opinion, what is the prettiest city in OK excluding OKC and Tulsa. Which towns have a lot of greenery, a lot of flowers, etc?

None...Oklahoma is not so great. I moved here from PA and made a mistake. I am now in Duncan OK where peopleare typical red necks and too conservative...Hope this helps you to rethink.

Unfortunately "pretty" is a personal taste so it's a hard question to answer. The most likely candidate would probably be in the Southeast area. It's quite hilly there, and there are more large hardwood trees.

What are typical rednecks like? If you don't like Duncan, why not move back to PA?

We really don't mind rednecks. (as long as they have all their teeth ) Actually, some people that are considered backward and stupid can be the kindest people. But it can be hard to carry on a conversation with people if they're totally backward.

I guess what we consider pretty is this~rolling green hills, flowery parks, beautiful big trees, streams and rivers, etc. Palm trees, too, but I realize that's probably too much to ask.

jammie,

one thing to think about. if you move to a town because it is the prettiest city, you will have lots of tourists.

I totally agree with you. The rednecks may not fit in well among the citizens of large metropolitan cities such as New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, etc... but most of them are honest, hard working, and will share what they have, even when that is meager or in short supply.

I live just outside Bartlesville which is about 45 miles north of Tulsa. We don't have a tourist trade here but the small city (population of about 35,000) is beautiful, clean, safe, and surrounded with rolling hills, water, and trees. It's a great place to raise a family and an affordable place to live. Anyone who is interested can do a web search and see for theirselves.

pretty is in the eye of the beholder. i heard about how ugly oklahoma was, then we drove from barstow, ca to the ok border. by the time i reached ok i was in heaven, mainly because from barstow to the ok boarder it is almost all desert. the land turned to soft rolling hills with a few trees, and my husband and i both knew that we could live in ok. then when reaching east ok we were really in love.

as far as rednecks go, i grew up with them. perhaps my dad was one. i don't know. he was also conservative. i became a liberal, but as i age my mind is changing some. i really don't know what a conservative is anymore, if it is president bush, i want none of it. but i have learned to live among people of different views of my own, why? because i don't voice my views, well, except to say that i would vote to impreach bush in a minute's notice. but still, i am posting incognito, if you were in front of me and talking "conservative" i would just tune you out and smile once in a while, maybe nod my head.

Sorry to hear this, but I have to agree with you, having spent some time in Duncan.

I've been in exile in Oklahoma for many years now. Ironically, PA is where my wife and I are hoping to move in the next few months.

Some places in OK are a little prettier and more progressive than Duncan, but overall I just think "Oklahoma. Meh."
