The following is violent crime, not just homicides. Also, it is for metro areas, not cities, although I find that to be a more apples to apples comparison, as comparing a city like Columbus, which encompasses parts of trhee counties due to township annexation, is not comparable to older cities ringed with old suburbs, like Cincinnati and Cleveland.

The ones I know:

Clevelands at about 34, which is 7.76/per 100k homicide rate so far.
Youngstowns at about 8, which is 10.96/per 100k homicide rate so far.
Lorains at about 2, which is 2.94/per 100k homicide rate so far.
Elyrias at about 1, which is 1.82/per 100k homicide rate so far.

Weve been through about 3 1/2 months of the year, so multiply the numbers above by about 3.5 and you should get the year homicide number and rate, if it stays at this same pace:

Cleveland- 119, 27.17/per 100k.
Youngstown- 28, 38.36/per 100k.
Lorain- 7, 10.29/per 100k.
Elyria- 4, 7.27/per 100k.

The US average is about 4/per 100k.

This has been a violent year all over the country. Those three cops shot down in Pittsburgh, the 14 killed in Binghamton, NY, Alabama, NC, and more. I know shootings happen a lot, I think the news might be talking about them more because of the economy, maybe saying that it has something to do with them all.

Warren usually averages about 5 per year (I believe there were 11 a couple yrs. ago). I can only remember 1 so far this year and it happened the other day on Wick S.E. Neighborhood rattled - TribToday.com - News, Sports, Jobs, Community Information - Tribune Chronicle - Warren, OH

Do you remember any others???

5 or 6 did sound very high to me for Warren this time of the year. That sounds more like a yearly total.

I guess its possible because Warren can get rough in places though, but I doubt its that high yet.
