Thanks to the approved federal Infrastructure Bill there will be direct service linking the "three C's" (Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland) for the first time since the 1960's plus a connecting route from Detroit through Toledo to Cleveland. Service is expected to be implemented within 4-5 years.

So it actually went through? Amazing! And even better, there will be a stop in Springfield so we won’t have to drive first to Dayton or Columbus.

They should have stops in Hamilton and Middletown too, make it accessible to more people and offer more destinations.

This is why rail is a failure in the US, they take what works in Europe, do it the American way and screw up royally.

It's not being cobbled together for the casual suburban traveler, rather the typical business traveler who appreciates traveling into a city center versus a suburban airport location.

Well, I think it's pretty cool. I am especially interested in that route that is supposed to go from Detroit through Toledo and on to Cleveland.

I am too and am thrilled for Toledo to have connectivity to both Detroit and Cleveland. I think it'll open up all kinds of much needed growth possibilities for Toledo via the ability to do business/commute more effectively.

I certainly hope they run these new routes better than they run the Northeast Corridor.

No he doesn't. Nothing is downtown. Everything is spread out. The airport is a good central location to deal with masses of people coming and going. The travel infrastructure is there, rental car is there, long-term parking is there. Putting the train downtown is stupid if you are trying to attract a business traveler.
