Hi all..we are planning our family vacation to Cedar Point in early June for 4 days. We are thinking a Sunday-Thur. (June 9-13) What is the best day of that time frame to go to miss the crowds? I've read Sunday and Wednesdays are the best. However, weekdays in early June can be packed due to school field trips. Not sure when Ohio schools get out for the summer.

First, your choice of Sun - Thurs is the best 5-day block possible. As Sunday wears on the crowds thin pretty well as folks leave to get ready for the work week. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the least busiest days IMO. When you live in Ohio you stumble upon discounts for those days from the backs of ticket stubs to Pepsi cans.

Schools in Ohio vary with their release date although the trend has been to end closer to just after Memorial Day to the first week of June. Most schools will let out the week before you arrive (June 3-7). I know Cleveland, Toledo, and Sandusky fall in line with that.

Cedar Point generally classifies the second weekend after Memorial Day to just before Independence Day as a "moderate" period as far as crowds go (light, moderate, heavy). Your days are the beginning of the moderate period transitioning from light.

All things considered I would say you picked a good period. The week before would be better (June 2-June 5) as it's finals weeks in most schools, cooler (but hey, only a week) and by CP's own stats: light crowds as compared to moderate.

Also...

CP can generally be done in two days. If you plan on 5 days in the park itself that's too much time.

Thanks..I appreciate your response! We are only doing the park 1 day with a day at soak city and another touring beaches etc. We can't move it up as my kids don't get out of school here in PA until June 6. Hopefully we can catch it on a day with smaller crowds..will plan on a Tues or Wed. I will also be on the lookout for those pepsi cans.
