Perhaps the OP can go back to considering Nassau County, like they have mentioned in the past(was wondering about Baldwin at one time). Perhaps an area/SD like Farmingdale, Malverne or Lynbrook, among others.

My two cents - the MetroNorth train to White Plains is 30 minutes. The MetroNorth trains are far nicer than any subway.

There are plenty of homes in White Plains for less than $800,000. Plus, White Plains has lower taxes than most of Westchester.

If you don't like the public schools, it also has a good range of private schools. If you purchase a $600,000 home, there will be enough wiggle room in your budget for a good private school.

BTW, my cousins all live in Nassau County & IMHO, White Plains is significantly nicer!

I live in Nassau and I agree. White plains area has better homes and more nature. Closer to northern nature too.
