Look at the stats for who was actually smoking cigarettes before the big anti tobacco blitz of the last quarter century.

Weed is not "good" for racial reasons it's "good" because there was an uncontested PR campaign since the early 70s, by NORML & friends, to paint cannabis as the harmless, all-natural stress reliever in contrast with bad old booze, instead of the addictive substance it really is.

The whole "hemp" thing, the idea that weed is a "medicine, maaan" ( as you will often hear self-medicating potheads refer to their drug of choice)...these are the results of rhis campaign.

Nothing to do with race.
Should we trust you or the states own policy? *will actively promote*. What is that supposed to mean exactly?

With a goal of awarding 50% of all licenses to Social and Economic Equity (SEE) applicants, OCM will actively promote the participation of individuals from communities disproportionately impacted by cannabis prohibition policies, minority and women owned businesses, distressed farmers, and service-disabled veterans.

*Justice involved*. Who make up upwards of 80% of the *justice involved * in NYC?

A state judge recently issued an injunction barring the state from issuing any more licenses, saying the preference for weed felons likely violated the state law legalizing marijuana for recreational use.

The new rules will allow “social equity” applicants — including disabled military veterans, minority and women business-led firms and distressed farmers — to apply to operate a weed dispensary beginning Oct. 4.

Oh ok, it has you hot under the collar that colored folks are getting preferential treatment as licensed dealers to make up for their massively disproportionate suffering of tne impact of the War On Drugs.

Not the same as "weed is good because it's POC DOC", but I can see how you being big mad about the above would obscure the difference.

It's not just NYC. Seems like every large city has this issue. In Canada too. Go walk around the streets of Montreal. It's worse there.

I think people down here in Florida are more into crack and meth than weed though.

Not at all. Don’t think I didn’t notice that you claimed it can’t be about race and then when I presented evidence the state made it about race, you conveniently used that as an excuse to claim racism. I thought it wasn’t about race?

The question is why aren’t *illegal* weed shops being closed down? If someone opened an illegal liquor store or ran a bar/restaurant without a liquor license, they’d get shut down within a week with heavy fines. If a bodega or a CVS openly sold untaxed cigarettes, they’d too get shut down within a week.

What’s different here? These illegal weed shops are t exactly trying to hide.
