I'm tired of these agencies calling wolf about a "SNOW EVENT" then details "little to no accumulation."
This is the kind of news that will get people killed and distrust of forecasts.
They are not only giving bad delivery of forecast but causes schools lots of expenses and child care cost for families that are struggling and may miss work if the schools closes early due to failed weather forecasts.

In your opinion, what should they say instead? This is a topic I haven't given too much thought towards, as I feel the news is mostly accurate with their weather predictions. I also go to weather.com to supplement the local forecasters, and use doppler for live events.

Another reason why we stopped watching CBS at 6pm.
Tired of Lonnie Quinn with his "red alerts". Reminded me of Star Trek and Captain Picard.
Oh, he's the worst. I stopped paying him any mind years ago. Figures he was an actor on soap operas.
I turn on NY1 for the weather. They don't exaggerate.
Or log on to accuweather.
They need to sell ads, so they need people to click on their link.
This same type of sensationalism exists in all topics, not just weather. The only difference is with weather, they are being disproven empirically in real time by everyone who walks outside. And it is also the least lied about topic compared to everything else, and the most trustworthy.

Weather.com has not said NYC is getting snow. It says 93% change of rain.
While NBC and FOX both said snow. Fortunately it is a Sunday event not Monday. But a lot of schools can interpret that as another snow day for Monday. Which they have done at some places and it is not even close to needing to close snow.
Have you gone to snow in NYC with 6" of snow? It was fun as hell and they need to stop calling for schools to closedown for just a minor snow forecast.

It's 2024 not 1984. Why are you watching the news for weather?
