At least they are working and trying to make a life for themselves. Unlike many other low life degenerates that have lived off of public assistance fr many generations they are trying. I don't knock them for this.
Did you miss the part where they are actually receiving free room and board? That’s more public assistance than most citizens get.

It's very possible that more people will leave NYC leaving the taxbase with much higher taxes. A lot of young working people have the WFH mobility will just move out to cheaper states. Middle income families will see a big tax crunch, inflation, and schools overruned by migrant children. They will pack up and run.
I can estimate a double digit drop in the NYC taxbase in the next 2-3 years. If the recession does hit NYC, I can't imagine a better time than to hit in the next 18 months.
