Hello All - just trying to obtain some advice on where I would be able to drop off, donate, give away a bunch of books that I have accumulated. Some are brand new, some are used... all kinds as well. Drama, fiction, children's, instructional.. all in very good to new condition. Would hate to recycle or throw them away.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Oh yeah, I am in the North Jersey area.

Thanks in advance!

Check with your local libraries and churches. They sometimes have book sales for fundraising and may accept a donation from you.

If I were in North Jersey, I'd say at my house. Ha!

I'm addicted to books.

Jails are often looking for instructional and non-fiction books. Maybe woman's shelters or homeless shelters, especially for the children's books? The other suggestions are good too.

Local AAUW (Association of University Women).

Use www.booksalefinder.com to find a sale near you, then contact them to find out when to donate.

I gave mine to that Veteran's organization that sends the cards in the mail to pick up your old stuff. They run a thrift shop to help pay for the NYC Veteran's Day Parade.

Years ago the Merchant Marines used to have a drive asking for books for their personnel, who are on ships for weeks at a time. It was at the old WTC, though, and I don't know if they started it up again at the new.

So, I did some Googling. They appear to have an office in Jersey City.
