You are right that parts of the Caribbean are not as poor as they once are.

You're offbase by making a general statement about Caribbean blacks don't get along with African Americans; that is simply not true.

And as far as black migration to Atlanta, Atlanta metro area has received by far the largest amount of black migrants. In the last ten years. It may slow down (Dallas seems to be attracting a large amount, which I think will continue especially after the hurricane in Houston, Cities in North Carolina and cities in Florida are also popular). But it seems likely that Atlanta will continue to attract large amounts of black migrants, among which will be Caribbean blacks.

Good point, AA and West Indian culture are very intertwined in NYC. Jamaican food in NYC basically takes the spot of Soul food.

Yeah Africans are most geographically widespread than Caribbean Americans. lots of Nigerians in Texas in general and the DMV. Ethiopians in DMV. Liberians in New York, Philly, and Providence. etc.

Well the West Indian mostly Jamaican population in Baychester, Eastchester and Wakefield areas in The Bronx are not going anywhere (thank goodness). There is a thriving business community there as well. Some of the blocks even have homeowners associations and neighborhood patrols. Lots of working and middle class families and I don't see it changing anytime soon.

Isn't Wakefield a bad area? Sure I suppose it's good it's not going anywhere for cultural reasons, but I'd figure it's because it's so far out that prices tend to just sit and the crime keeps it somewhat low for NYC standards.

Wakefield is definitely not the greatest area and it also has more 6 story buildings etc. and there are housing projects in the nearby areas so yeah. However, there are still many working class West Indians who are great neighbors. A lot of people drive to work in Westchester from there and they do have access to Metro North and express bus directly to Manhattan. The prices aren't all that cheap actually (maybe the apartments but not the houses). Crime is definitely an issue (in the entire boro for that matter) but not as much as in some West Indian areas in Brooklyn or even Westchester (e.g Mount Vernon).

I do love many of the business and would not want to see them go. Lots of family owned spots that have been around forever. Also for the most part people are polite to one another and in the summer the area has some awesome block parties and backyard BBQ's. I don't see the community shrinking at all, that was my point....sorry I digressed LOL

For who? LOL
It is a great location if you work in Westchester county and you can get to the city pretty quick either by taking Metro North or the Express bus. You can actually own a car here because there is parking. And oh...the dollar vans! Plus the 2 and 5 train is right there.

yuh dun kno?...lol shhhhhhh
