Don't pay the fine. The EZ Pass tech folks know their equipment has problems. I remember at one time it was missing dark cars in the rain or something and they were trying to figure out how to fix it.

Did you tell the Avis people when you returned the car? I would have just called them after you were stopped somewhere after you got the message. Why just wonder what might happen when you could be proactive and just call them?

Or, you could know what's in your rental contract. Normally, any tickets, fines, etc., that you incur--they'll make sure you pay for it.

I'm sure this happens numerous tiimes daily. I know it happened to me a couple of times because I don't drive the Parkway or Turnpike regularly I found myself too far over from the cash lane and unable to safely change lanes in order to pay the toll. I get a letter and there's a space where you can explain what happened and include the missed toll. Never heard anythind else about it.

I understood it to be Avis' transponder that malfunctioned, not the OP's. I could be wrong.

Hey guys I have a question so I was driving from south Hersey up to north jersey and my gps was telling me to keep left on garden state parkway n toward Woodbridge however the lane that I took I'm guessing it was for ez pass people but I didn't go through a toll both or toll ez pass part and so I was wondering if I'm going to get a ticket since I didn't see a camera and it was honestly an honest mistake I just took the lane on the left side since that's what my gps was telling me, and all the toll booths were on the right .. Help

There are cameras on the high speed toll lanes too (they hang over the top) so you will get a ticket in the mail. You can try and call NJ e-z pass and see if there's anything you can do. Your chances will be better if you call them and admit your mistake before a ticket arrives and it looks like another excuse.

Yes tolls suck.
Also many of the smaller exit tolls are now unmanned so you either need EZ Pass or exact change or you get a violation ticket in the mail.

There.s a new toll road in Virginia all automated. If you don't have EZ pass they send you a bill with an extra $1.50 billing charge each time.
